Reliance jio announced new 4g unlimited plans, will live from 19th October 2017:-Reliance Jio (Jio) has raised effective prices of some of its popular 4g unlimited plans, indicating early signs of stability in the industry that is struggling to keep pace with low tariff plans introduced by the Mukesh Ambani owned company.

Reliance jio's most popular plan of Rs 399 with a three month validity (84 days) will now be available for Rs 459 and subscribers who want to continue with similar rate will have the pack available for a period of 70 days instead. The changes will kick in from October 19, the company ​said on its website, a few days after indicating that some rates will be raised as the company seeks higher revenue from subscribers.

Reliance jio that has an average revenue per user (ARPU) of Rs 154 ​is trying to continue too hold on to its high​-end customers and by introducing sachets and adding to data packs​, is trying to bring in the rear end as well​, said analysts​. ​They add that the incumbents will start feeling a bit relieved with the raises which allows them a little bit of a breathing space amid the intense competition that is on currently and is expected to continue for around a year more.

The Ambani​-owned Jio is feeding its data guzzling customers by increasing the amount of data given in its Rs 149 and Rs 509 pack. The 149 pack, which the firm which didn't have too many takers will now provide 4GB a month instead of the earlier 2GB.Those using Rs 509 pack will get 2GB a day. The plan brings high speed data to subscribers at the lowest industry price of Rs 5.2 per GB said the telco.

For small value recharges, Jio has rolled out daily and weekly packs. Under these plans, a user can get free voice, SMS, unlimited data (0.15 GB daily) for as low as Rs 19 for a day, Rs 52 for a week or Rs 98 for 2 weeks.The operator has increased the validity of its long term plans. Customers opting for Rs 1999 plan will get it for a period of 6 month instead of earlier 120 days and those who go for the Rs 4999 play ​​will get a validity of one year rather than the earlier 210 days.

This could be aimed to hold on to customers and prevent them from retaining the plans of incumbents who have been matching Jio's offers since its launch in September, 2016.Jio, the telecom unit of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), posted a net loss of Rs 270.59 crore for the quarter ended September on revenue of Rs 6,147 crore and surprised the market by reporting a positive earnings before interest and tax (ebit), helped by strong user additions and cost efficiencies.

The new entrant expects to turn profitable at the net level “very shortly,” with average revenue per user (ARPU) – a key performance parameter – likely to improve as the new entrant raises its rates going forward and Jio continues to leverage its cost advantages due to investments in 4G technology. Jio’s ARPU stood at Rs156.4 compared with Rs154 that market leader Bharti Airtel recorded in the April-June period, a fact which surprised some analysts.

Low prices have helped Reliance Jio net 138.6 million users, consolidating its position as the fourth-largest telco. Of these, 15.3 million were net additions in the just-ended quarter with only 1% of users moving to another network, a migration that’s expected to slow, Jio said. Active users numbered 107 million.

Now Reliance Jio is targeting 50% of revenue market share in the next few years and offered the mass-market phone effectively ‘free’ with a down payment of Rs 1,500 that’s refundable after three years.
